Hot on the heels of Apple's iPhone is Google's Android operating system. Now boasting over 70k mobile Apps (as of Aug 2010) available to download it is not far behind Apple's App total. The Android app market is very similar to Apple's where developers are free to create and upload Apps for users to download. The main difference between the platforms is that many handset makers (i.e. Samsung) are adopting the Android platform across their phone range. This makes the use of the Android platform potentially more widespread than Apple's as Android is not restricted to one handset like it is with Apple's iPhone.
